Halitosis Treatment – The Halitosis Cure That Should Be Obeyed
by admin on Jan.26, 2012, under dental health articles
Most people are constantly concerned about there halitosis and want a good halitosis treatment. With the right precautions, bad breath can be essentially eliminated. All you have to do is be willing to take the proper steps and follow the instructions of this halitosis cure.
First thing you should know about your tongue, is that there are two parts to it, the front and the back. Bad breath germs may thrive in both sections of the tongue. This is why knowing the exact location of the halitosis is the key to its resolution. Localizing the issue can help us figure out what steps to take.
Before you continue, you should make sure that you have bad breath. Try asking a friend or a family member. If you do not feel comfortable asking them, you can continue. To test whether the front of your tongue is the culprit, try licking your wrist and letting it dry. You should try smelling it to identify the smell. If it does not smell too good then your problem is probably with that part of your tongue.
Now you should try to test the back of your tongue. The best way to do this is with a spoon. Scrape the back of your tongue. Now try smelling it. If you dislike the scent, then this is probably where your bad odour comes from.
The major cause of halitosis is bacteria. If you identify the source of the bad breath to be the front of your tongue, you should try to brush more frequently and for a longer period of time. Try not to forget to brush your tongue as carefully as you can. To clear the back of your tongue, try gargling with mouthwash. This is extremely helpful because it clears away most of the bacteria present in your mouth. Gargling ensures that the mouthwash reaches the back of the tongue.
Then next best thing is using hydrogen peroxide mixed with water. This should do almost the same exact thing as mouthwash, except it leaves a weird aftertaste. Do this on a regular basis, and use as directed.
Halitosis can also be caused by tooth decay. This problem can only be resolved by visiting the dentist, but for a temporary fix trying killing the bacteria with green tea. Green tea has been shown to prevent tooth decay and kill the bacteria that produce it. This is a temporary solution to the problem, be sure to see the dentist to solve this problem.
The types of foods you eat also have a huge effect on how your breath will be. If you lots of garlic and onions, your breath will have a foul scent. There isn’t much you can do about it besides eating so much and chewing gum until it’s out of your system. Also, people with low carbohydrate diets end up converting fats into energy which gives off an extremely foul scent. This can be resolved by adding more carbohydrates to your diet.
Drinking water can also help you lose the halitosis. Dry mouths are a breeding ground for sulphur emitting bacteria. By constantly being hydrated your body will produce more saliva, getting rid of the bacteria.

How To Avoid Bad Breath – 7 Quick Tips For Bad Breath Prevention
by admin on Jan.26, 2012, under dental health articles
One of the things I try and avoid most is a morning bad breath . Put simply, this means my breath smells when I first wake up in the morning. I have a dry mouth and there is very little saliva. The first thing I do to counteract this, and before it becomes noticeable to others, is to have a drink of water.
I stick my tongue out in front of the mirror, not because I want to be rude to it, rather I simply want to check my tongue looks a healthy pinky colour. If it does not, and my mouth still feels overly dry, I brush my tongue and that gets rid of the dirty colour and my breath feels a lot sweeter by doing just that.
I do not want to have people trying to dodge out of my way when I talk to them, because my breath smells. That is embarrassing for me and for the person I am talking to as well. Bad breath prevention is important to me in my struggle to keep my breath smelling fresh. If I put myself in the other persons place, I know I would not like to stand close to someone with a foul smelling breath.
So how do I avoid bad breath?
1. I clean my teeth at least twice every day, or after mealtimes. Then I make sure I clean my tongue, which in my opinion is the most important in my daily fight to prevent bad breath.
2. I Floss my teeth. By removing those stubborn particles of food lodged between my teeth, I am preventing the build up of bacteria in my mouth.
3. I use a toothbrush to brush my tongue. Some people say you should use a separate tooth brush for this purpose, but I use the same one I clean my teeth with. An up side down, blunt edged spoon, works just as well.
4. Do not smoke. Chewing or smoking tobacco makes the breath smelly.
5. I try to drink enough water during the day so my mouth never feels too dry. A dry breath is usually a smelly one.
6. I eat onion and garlic, in moderation. I know these foods cause bad breath, but I chew a little parsley after eating garlic. I think it helps, although I cannot always tell if it has been truly effective.
7. I practice a variation of the yoga technique called the cleansing breath, where I breath out for as long as possible. I believe it helps in bad breath prevention .
I hope you have found these tips helpful, and that perhaps you can use some of them yourself.

The Many Advantages Of Getting Dental Veneers
by admin on Jan.25, 2012, under dental health articles
Dental veneers Los Angeles are ultra-thin, customized coatings that are placed over the surface of the teeth. They improve the appearance of the teeth by changing their shape, color, length or size. They are made to look like real teeth by using materials that have the same color and texture as the real deal. The materials used to make dental veneers Los Angeles are either resin materials or porcelain. Porcelain dental veneers are more popular because they do not stain easily and their appearance closely resembles that of real teeth.
Dental veneers Los Angeles are commonly used to improve several dental problems such as teeth discoloration, chipped teeth, uneven teeth, misshapen teeth and wide gaps in between teeth. By getting veneers, there will be a noticeable improvement in the appearance of your teeth. With the new veneers Los Angeles crooked teeth are straightened, stained teeth appear whiter, gaps are closed and uneven teeth become perfectly aligned.
All these improvements in the appearance of your teeth are done with just a few visits to your dentist. Your first visit involves a consultation where the dentist will examine the condition of your teeth and assess whether you are in need of veneers Los Angeles. The dentist may take a few x-rays to get a clearer assessment of your teeth. On the second visit, the dentist will prepare your teeth for the dental. Part of the preparation will be the removal of half a millimeter of your teeth’s enamel. This is the same thickness of the dental that will coat your teeth. After the removal of the enamel, an impression of your teeth will be made by the dentist.
This impression will be used as a guide for the fabrication of your teeth. The veneers will be ready in a week or two. On your third visit, the dentist will fit the dental veneers to make certain that the color and fit of the veneers match the rest of your teeth. Next is the final preparation of the teeth for the teeth which involves cleaning, polishing and etching. The teeth are then attached to the teeth with the use of special cement. The last step is the clean-up or removal of excess cement and the final adjustments to the veneers based on your bite.
Dental veneers can last as long as five to ten years with proper care and oral hygiene. They are also less prone to get stained; however it is still best to avoid food or drinks that can stain your teeth such as tea, coffee and the like. What is great about veneers Los Angeles is that they can be made to look like your real teeth. The colors of the veneers can be matched to the color of your real teeth. You can have a perfect smile after a few visits to your dentist and the entire procedure is practically painless

Tooth Crowns – Do You Need One?
by admin on Jan.24, 2012, under dental health articles
No matter how well you take care of your teeth, there’s always a chance something bad could happen. An accident can break or chip a tooth, for example. And even with great hygiene, there’s always a chance that a cavity can develop anyway. One of the best ways to treat cavities, cracks, and damage in teeth is with tooth crowns. A crown essentially is a cap for a tooth that restores it to a natural tooth’s shape while protecting any nerves or pulp that might otherwise be exposed.
There are many reasons a tooth may need to be crowned. The primary and most common cause for a crown is to repair a tooth with a cavity. Crowns are also frequently used to repair broken or chipped teeth. The crown is designed to repair the damaged tooth and restore its shape to something close to the original. A damaged tooth may have painful exposed nerves or jagged edges which can injure the inner mouth or damage surrounding teeth. Crowning can reduce or eliminate issues with the faulty tooth. It can also be used as a precautionary measure to stop a cracked or damaged tooth from regressing further.
Depending on your needs, your dentist may suggest one or more of the available crown variations. Many people are familiar with metal crowns. They stand out visually and are sometimes used as a cosmetic enhancement, especially gold crowns. Metal crowning is popular because it is durable, long lasting, and easy to install. It’s also very conspicuous, so metal is not the best choice if you want to keep your crowns hidden. An alternative is a porcelain-fused metal crown, which looks more like a natural tooth but is metal underneath. Porcelain can also be used alone in crowns for an even more natural look, in exchange for less durability.
While good oral hygiene is important at all times, special practice should be taken to ensure the longest life for your crown. This is especially important when dealing with a temporary crown installed at the dentist’s office while waiting for your permanent crown to be manufactured. Take care to floss from front to back and not up and down and not to remove the floss by pulling up. This will help prevent dislodging or removing the crown. If you are having any problems with your crown, you should contact your dentist and set up a time to have it fixed or replaced. An over-the-counter dental adhesive can be used for a temporary fix if necessary.
Tooth crowns are a valuable option for people with dental problems. Damaged teeth can be very difficult to deal with. Exposed nerves can cause pain. The uneven surface of the tooth can lead to pain or difficulties in chewing. You can cut the inside of your mouth on a jagged tooth. Furthermore, a tooth with a cavity can get food particles caught in it, which can contribute to bad breath. If you are experiencing symptoms of cavities or you have a damaged tooth, you should consult a dentist and look into having the offending teeth crowned.
